Nnamchi, a former university lecturer, is representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency.
A member of the House of Representatives, Prof. Paul Nnamchi has praised the efforts of his party to ensure that he emerged as a lawmaker.
According to Nnamchi elected under the platform of the Labour Party, LP, his win shows that “a son of nobody can become somebody”.
Nnamchi, a former university lecturer, is representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency.
He is one of the seven LP members elected into the House of Representatives during the February 25 polls tsunami that swept away all the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, political heavyweights in Enugu State.
Unitil his election, only a section of people in the constituency decided occupiers of all political offices in the area.
However, speaking on Sunday in Ako-Nike community in Enugu East Local Government Area during his Post Inauguration Reception that attracted thousands of notable Nigerians and well-wishers, Nnamchi said his emergence had redefined history.
He said it was an indication that anybody within his constituency, especially youths, can achieve great things notwithstanding their humble or low beginning.
“I am grateful. The overwhelming vote that you gave me, is a vote of courage
“Taking a previous perspective, you can only become somebody by coming from a particular place in this constituency or by your genealogy before now.
“I am standing here before you, as a symbol that you all can be great if you believe in God, work hard and pursue your dreams.
“It is also possible that the son of nobody can be somebody. It is also possible to say that he knows nobody can be somebody.
“It is also possible to say, if you claim it, that your own sons can be a house member, senator, governor and even the President of the country,” he said.
Nnamchi pledged to make himself accessible to all, especially people of the constituency.
Dignitaries that attended the reception included: a former Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji; the governorship candidate of Labour Party, Barr Chijioke Edeoga, Sen. Kelvin Chukwu, representing Enugu East Senatorial Zone, Sen. Okey Ezea representing Enugu North Senatorial Zone, Hon Nnoli Nnaji representing Nkanu West/Nkanu East Federal Constituency, among other party chieftains and academics.
