Kamsiyochukwu Umeh has been confirmed as the overall best candidate in the just concluded 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) conducted by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Umeh is a student of Deeper Life High School in Mowe.
Following the feat, she was rewarded with a cash gift of N2.5 million Naira by the Chief Executive Officer and President of Erisco Foods Limited, Dr Eric Umeofia.
Umeh emerged as the best candidate in the 2023 UTME, scoring 360 from the combined subjects she sat for.
It was confirmed by JAMB that Umeh scored 99 in Chemistry, 98 in Mathematics, 97 in Physics, and 66 in English in the year’s UTME.
In a bid to encourage the student, the Chief Executive Officer and President of Erisco Foods Limited, Dr Eric Umeofia, announced a cash gift to the young girl.
During a chat with journalists on Friday (today), Umeofia said he was moved by the student’s interview with The PUNCH earlier.
The businessman also announced various cash rewards to the school’s administrator, the four subject teachers, and two other best students.
