Popular Nigerian singer/songwriter, Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy has taken a swipe at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the warning issued to the Election Petition Tribunal.
Recall that Tinubu had issued a warning about the potential consequences of nullifying the election that produced him as the president.
He cautioned that such a decision, based on his failure to secure 25% of the lawful votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), could result in absurdity, chaos, anarchy, and the distortion of the legislature’s original intent.
The president stated this while presenting his final written address to the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPEC) on the petitions filed by candidates from the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar challenging the validity of his victory.
Reacting to Tinubu’s warning via Twitter, Charly Boy wondered why the president was issuing threats after encouraging the opposition to go to court.
He wrote, “So after threatening the judiciary on camera, u wan still come dey threaten Nigerians with chaos & anarchy?
“Well all I know is nobody get monopoly of violence.
“Removing me as president over failure to score 25% in Abuja may trigger anarchy in Nigeria,
“Tinubu warns the tribunal.
“Haba, na u say make e “go court” Na u still come say, if Tribunal judges remove u for scoring less dan 25% der will be anarchy.
“So u know say u score less?”
