Greatness Olorunfumi
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has offered his condolences to the bereaved family of Greatness Olorunfumi, who died last week following the alleged negligence of one of the general hospitals in Abuja after she entered ‘One chance’ vehicle.
Recall that the death of the 33-year-old became a growing sensation after Maitama District Hospital denied her medical assistance after she was thrown out of a moving vehicle along the Maitama-Kubwa highway by suspected criminals operating what is locally known as one chance.
Speaking about her death, the mandate secretary, Health Service and Environment Secretariat (FCT), Dolapo Fasawe in a statement said a nine-man independent and investigative panel will be inaugurated on Thursday to probe the death of Greatness Olorunfemi.
Fasawe assured the family and friends of the deceased that the investigation would be conducted transparently.
The panel comprises the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDDAN), Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM); Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) and others.
The statement said the findings of the panel would be made public.
Olorunfemi was the assistant secretary and public relations officer of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Abuja chapter. She was also a member of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) network.
