Daniel Regha, the popular social media commentator, has argued that Asake is a much bigger artiste than Rema.
The fierce critic argued that Asake is far ahead of Rema lyrics-wise, but the latter has better publicity due to his record label boss, Don Jazzy’s influence.
He further claimed that 99 per cent of Rema’s songs are “recycle lyrics”.
He, however, said his take was just an opinion, adding that no shade was intended.
Regha wrote, “Asake is a bigger artiste than Rema, but Rema gets better PR thanks to Don Jazzy’s influence & that of Mavin Records. Lyrically speaking Asake has more meaningful songs; Rema 99% of the time recycles lyrics. The only thing they have in common is that both are still upcomers, that’s all. No shades.”
His criticism is coming on the heels of Rema selling out the 20,000-capacity London’s 02 Arena, joining Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake as the only African artistes to have sold out the world’s busiest music arena.
