Twelve persons were burnt to death as bandits attacked Gindin Duste Makyali of the Kufana District, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It was gathered that the bandits in large numbers invaded the community in the early hours of Sunday, February 18, 2024, shooting indiscriminately.

Sources said no fewer than 17 houses were razed in the incident which happened around 5am.

The attack which lasted many hours without security operatives in sight, came barely 48 hours after another attack in Igabi and Kauru Local Government Areas of the state, where nine persons were killed and 35 abducted.

It was gathered that the bandits burnt 12 residents to death in their houses while nine sustained injuries.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, who confirmed the incident, said nine people died during the attack while two others later died at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the state governor, Uba Sani, has condemned the renewed attack, adding that the government is working with security agencies to mitigate security challenges across the state.

Governor Sani, who spoke through the Overseeing Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said he received the news of the latest attack with shock while directing the State Emergency Agency to urgently assist the affected communities in Kajuru and Igabi.

“Governor Sani who has been leading meetings with security forces, condemned the attacks in strong terms and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased. He also directed the State Emergency Management Agency to, as a matter of urgency, assist the affected communities in Kajuru and Igabi LGAs following the razing of some of their houses and valuables,”
Aruwan said.

"The governor further reiterated the government’s dedication and commitment to tackling the security challenges experienced across the state,” he added.
