The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down three unregistered bakeries and a sachet water factory in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The agency made this known in a post on social media on Tuesday, stating that the facilities were operating in "makeshift structures with poor hygiene standards, posed serious health risks to consumers."
The statement partly read, "NAFDAC has closed three unregistered bakeries and a sachet water factory in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
"The unregistered bakeries, located in Rmuoparali and Mgbuoba areas, were found to be operating in unsanitary conditions, including the use of a lister generator inside the production room."
The statement added that the State Coordinator of Rivers State, Onogwu urged the public to continue providing valuable information to NAFDAC to facilitate the agency’s efforts to ensure the safety and quality of regulated products.
