Lydia Aji, a 40-year-old woman, has been arrested by the Borno State Police Command for killing her husband with an axe in Kautikari village of Chibok LGA.
ASP Nahum Daso, the command’s Public Relations Officer, said Aji was arrested for killing her husband with an axe during a fight over their daughter, Rachael Aji, 13, who stole a goat and sold it to an unknown person.
Following the daughter’s criminal behaviour, the father ordered her to leave the house.
However, a fight ensued as the mother opposed the order and instantly struck her husband with an axe.
“Lydia Aji struck her husband on the head with an axe and he died instantly.
“Investigation further revealed that the couple had a misunderstanding. The angry father then asked them to leave his house. The case is still under investigation,” Daso said.
Similarly, the police also arrested Usakahyel Adamu, 24, in the Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area for allegedly killing his 90-year-old grandfather.
The command’s spokesman said the suspect, after an altercation, used a hoe to hit his grandfather on the head, leading to the old man’s death on the spot.
Daso said the suspects would be charged in court upon completion of investigations.
The statement also said the police arrested three suspects in possession of Indian hemp and hard drugs and a syndicate of five suspected vandals of public infrastructure with exhibits of vandalised solar street lights and borehole components.
Three other suspects were also paraded for criminal intimidation after threatening a man to pay them N2 million or risk death.
