The suspended Commissioner for Health in Abia State, Ngozi Okoronkwo, has officially tendered her resignation.
The announcement was made by Ukoha Njoku, spokesperson for Governor Alex Otti, in a statement released on Wednesday, July 24.
Okoronkwo, a medical doctor, was suspended in June by Governor Otti due to allegations of "gross misconduct." The suspension was intended to allow for a thorough investigation into the accusations.
According to Njoku, Okoronkwo submitted her resignation letter to Governor Otti, who has accepted it. The governor expressed gratitude for Okoronkwo's contributions and "modest achievements" in improving the health sector over the past year.
Njoku added that Governor Otti remains committed to the transformation of Abia State, emphasizing that it is within his mandate to appoint, suspend, or remove officials as needed to fulfill his promises to the people.
