General Christopher Musa, Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff, has gifted N1 million to 24 Nigerian soldiers who participated in the elimination of the wanted terrorists in Nigeria, Habibu Sububu.
Sububu was killed alongside dozens of his fighters by the Nigerian troops on September 12 by the troops in Kwaren Kirya, a community under the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Sububu is an indigene of the Niger Republic but resides in a forest in Zamfara State, and often escaped to the Niger Republic after operating in Nigeria.
Sububu, a notorious gunrunner, also owned a thriving illegal gold mining operation in Bagega and other communities around Sumke forest in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
In a video shared online, the Chief of Defence Staff could be seen appreciating and announcing the cash gift to the gallant soldiers. His financial gesture has been greeted with mixed reactions. While some have appreciated him, others argued that the money to be received by each soldier will be too small.
