A landlord, Wasiu Fatai, 48, was remanded at the Nigeria Correctional Services (NCoS) in Kirikiri, Lagos, by an Ejigbo Magistrate Court for allegedly assaulting his tenant, Bakare Joseph, over his relatives visiting without the landlord's permission.
Fatai would remain in custody of the NCoS until the perfection of his bail conditions.
Bakare is said to be lying critically ill at at an undisclosed hospital in Lagos after he was attacked and injured by his landlord.
Fatai is facing a two-count charge before the court bordering on “conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and assault” before Magistrate K. A. Ariyo.
The incident happened on September 8, 2024, at Oladeraji Street, Ijegun, Ikotun area of Lagos, where the tenant, Joseph, rented an apartment.
