According to a statement released on Tuesday by the UK Metropolitan Police, the tragic incident unfolded on Sunday evening, July 27.

A 60-year-old Nigerian woman, Nkiru Chima has been found d3ad with multiple stab wounds in her apartment in Romford, East London.

This is according British authorities who have now launched a homicide investigation.

In a statement on Tuesday, the UK Metropolitan Police said the tragic incident unfolded on Sunday evening, July 27.

Officers were alerted by the British Transport Police around 7:00 p.m. after concerns were raised regarding Chima’s welfare at her residence on Bushy Close, Romford (postcode RM1).

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Chima unresponsive with multiple stab injuries. She was pronounced d3ad at the scene.

“Officers located a woman at the address with multiple stab wounds; she was sadly pronounced d3ad at the scene.

“She has since been formally identified as 60-year-old Nkiru Chima from Romford,” the Met Police said.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command revealed that Chima’s death is believed to be connected to another fatal incident that occurred the same day, a 20-year-old man was found d3ad on the train tracks at Romford station just hours earlier.

“Our investigation so far strongly suggests a link between the two deaths,” Yorke said.

“The young man, who died on the tracks, was known to Nkiru.

“The British Transport Police continue to lead inquiries into his death.”

While no further details about the man’s identity or motive have been released, the police have not ruled out domestic or personal connections between the two incidents.

The Metropolitan Police expressed appreciation to the local Romford community for their cooperation and called on anyone with further information to assist the ongoing investigation.

“Our thoughts remain with Nkiru’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” Yorke added.

“We are determined to uncover the full circumstances of this tragedy and urge anyone who might know something to contact us.”
