Keep Your Family Name After Marriage - Nigerian Lady Advices Fellow Women

Rachelle, a Nigerian lady has taken to X to advise women planning to marry to keep their maiden names if they wish, stressing that doing so would not negatively impact their lives.

According to Rachelle, she has been married for four years but still kept her family name.

She said not changing her last name to her husband’s didn't hinder her from relocating, having a child and travelling solo with her child.

When asked if she would have kept her last name if she were married to a man from a wealthy and popular family, she responded saying her name is her identity and she would not change it for any reason.
