However, the Nigeria Police Force condemned the video, claiming it is provocation against its officers in the cause of carrying out their lawful duties.
The police released a statement in reaction to a viral video of a civilian confronting a police officer in Lagos and accusing him of operating an illegal check point.
The NPF shared the video and wrote: "The Nigeria Police Force strongly condemns this act of provocation against officers performing their lawful duty. Such disturbances are unacceptable as they are capable of undermining public safety. We urge citizens to respect security personnel and desist from any actions that obstruct their work."
However, Nigerians on social media slammed the police accusing them of setting up illegal road blocks to extort innocent citizens.
