On Tuesday, Vice President Kashim Shettima opened a cutting-edge banquet hall built by the Kaduna State Government, characterizing the project as an example of institutional building and deliberate leadership.

Speaking at the event in Kaduna, the Vice President stated that the Federal Government would continue to assist the state, pointing to its vital significance within Nigeria's political and socioeconomic structure.

He claims that Kaduna plays a crucial role in the country's growth, which is why the federal government has continued to be involved through initiatives and policy changes.

"We understand the place this great state occupies in the anatomy of our nation, which is why we have returned to Kaduna repeatedly in recent months with projects, policies, and promises renewed by action," Shettima stated.

"The heartbeat of Nigeria cannot be ignored without the whole body feeling the impact," he emphasized, adding that the federal government would always support the state.

Shettima praised Governor Uba Sani for combining efforts to improve government institutions with infrastructure development, characterizing the strategy as essential to sustainable growth.

He pointed out that good governance necessitates developing systems that guarantee effectiveness, accountability, and better service delivery in addition to physical infrastructure.

The vice president said the newly inaugurated facility would enhance high-level engagements, policy dialogues and ceremonial functions, while addressing infrastructural gaps that often limit governance activities.

He expressed optimism that the hall would position Kaduna as a hub for regional and international events, including conferences, exhibitions and cultural engagements capable of boosting economic activities.

According to him, the project also reflects a leadership philosophy that prioritises dignity in public service, protection of vulnerable groups and restoration of public trust in governance.

Sani stated in his speech that the banquet hall was not merely a physical building but rather a deliberate investment in institutional capability and public participation.

He revealed that the building, which occupies 2.7 hectares and has a built-up surface of roughly 5,000 square meters, can hold 1,300 people in a theater format and 1,000 at a banquet.

Sani clarified that the hall was intended to accommodate international conferences, exhibits, policy discussions, and diplomatic meetings with the goal of promoting collaboration and advancing development.

The project, he continued, is in line with his administration's goal of establishing Kaduna as a hub for global engagement, investment, and culture.
The governor reiterated his dedication to inclusive development and added that the facility was named after a former military administrator in honor of his disciplined and morally-driven leadership.

Ahmed Makarfi, the former governor of Kaduna State, praised the project, calling it a noteworthy accomplishment finished in record time.

Makarfi also called on the state administration to honor Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa and other former leaders for their contributions to the growth of the state.
Speaking as well, former vice president Namadi Sambo praised the governor for carrying out what he called a great initiative, pointing out that it is a calculated investment in Kaduna State's modernization and governance.

Given its ongoing security issues, including as banditry in its rural areas, farmer-herder conflicts, and kidnapping events along major highways, as well as its economic potential as an industrial and agricultural hub, Kaduna has recently come to the attention of the federal government.
