After a 100MVA 132/33kV transformer at the Ayede Transmission Substation was shut down for yearly preventative maintenance, the Transmission Company of Nigeria declared a temporary power outage impacting portions of Ibadan, Oyo State.
TCN announced on X on Tuesday that the maintenance exercise would begin at 10:00 a.m. in a statement signed by its General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah. until 6:00 p.m.
"The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) hereby notifies the public of scheduled maintenance of one of its 100MVA 132/33kV power transformers at the Ayede Transmission Substation on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m.," the announcement states. until 6:00 p.m.
According to Mbah, the workout was required to maintain the facilities in top shape.
"TCN engineers will be able to perform routine checks on the transformer to ensure continued optimal performance thanks to the maintenance exercise."
Customers in the Express, Industrial, and Oluyole districts will therefore not be able to get energy from the Ibadan energy Distribution Company during the specified time.
"As a result, IBEDC will not be able to off-take electricity for its customers in the Express, Industrial, and Oluyole areas today alone, within the specified period."
The transmission business expressed regret for any difficulty that consumers of power in the impacted areas would have as a result of the shutdown.
