Emmanuel Obasi, the former husband of actress Judy Austin, has clarified that the emotional moment that saw him break down during a recent podcast interview had nothing to do with his ex-wife.
Obasi made this clarification in a video shared on Wednesday, following the viral spread of a clip from his appearance on a podcast, during which he became emotional while discussing the collapse of his marriage and allegations involving actor Yul Edochie.
The moment sparked widespread reactions online after he was seen wiping tears from his eyes with a handkerchief.
Addressing the incident, Obasi apologised to viewers for becoming emotional, explaining that he had been triggered by painful memories.
He stated that he had not travelled from Onitsha to Lagos with the intention of crying, urging people to bear with him and understand that something had set off his reaction.
The businessman also dismissed claims circulating online that he broke down because of Judy Austin, describing such reports as false.
According to him, he is no longer concerned about his past relationship and is instead focused on a more personal matter, explaining that his tears were not for a woman but for his children, stemming from his desire to build a closer relationship with them.
Obasi also pushed back at critics who mocked him over the handkerchief he used during the interview, urging Nigerians to focus on the substance of his message rather than the object in his hand.
He argued that when a man comes forward crying about wanting to see his children, attention should be paid to what he is saying rather than fixating on something as trivial as a handkerchief.
