Nigerian Navy Warns Public Against Fake DSSC Recruitment Notices Online

The Nigerian Navy has warned the public against fake Direct Short Service Commission recruitment notices going around on social media.

Director of Naval Information, Captain Abi Folorunsho, made this known in a post on his official handle on Tuesday.

He said the notices claim to advertise openings for DSSC Course 30 and list qualifications in medical, engineering, legal, ICT and other fields, but they did not come from the Navy.

He stressed that the DSSC recruitment has not started.

When it does, the information will be posted on his page, the official Navy website and the Navy's official social media pages.

He urged people not to let anyone scam them.

The warning came a day after the Navy announced the start of its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment for the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School.

That exercise runs from October 2 to October 31, 2026, and eligible applicants must apply through the official recruitment portal.

The Navy said the process is free and warned applicants not to pay anyone claiming to help them get in.

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, have a National Identification Number and meet the educational, age, physical and medical requirements.

The DSSC recruitment in the warning is separate from the Batch 39 Basic Training School exercise.
