Comedian and actor Okey Bakassi says he is still married and his wife is still with him.

He called a viral online report that they had separated fake news and an attempt to disrespect him and his family.

The report claimed his wife had moved to the United States to study nursing and that he had asked for a divorce after years of sending money.

Bakassi said the story was false and that friends, family and fans around the world had been calling to check on them.

He said the claim that his wife lives in the United States and works as a nurse is wrong.

He said she lives in Canada, where the couple recently marked their 25th wedding anniversary.

He urged people to report the account that shared the story and to check facts before passing on news about others.

The row started after a video he made about Nigerian politics was taken out of context.

In that video, he spoke about the presidential candidates he has backed over the years and said he still supports Peter Obi for 2027, while adding that people are free to make their own choices.
