NAFDAC Raids Lagos Factory Over Fake Herbal Drink Registration Number

NAFDAC has shut down an illegal herbal drinks factory in Agege, Lagos State.

The raid followed a Guardian report about herbal products carrying fake NAFDAC numbers.

Agents watched the site and found three versions of Asheitu Adams Bitters.

The bottles had the number A7 1827L on them.

When the agency checked its online system, it found that the number belongs to Greentol Cough Syrup.

So the bitters were using a number that was not theirs.

The company boss was not at the site when agents arrived.

The factory manager was arrested and is being questioned.

Less than a week earlier, NAFDAC found a fake drinks factory at the Trade Fair Complex in Lagos.

Two people were arrested there.

They allegedly stuck fake labels on empty bottles of expensive wine and refilled them with cheap, mixed drinks.

NAFDAC is asking the public to report any suspicious production.
