Banker Dies In Abuja Due To Terrible Working Schedule

Posted by George on Wed 01st Jul, 2015 - tori.ng

A banker in Abuja has reportedly died as a result of harsh working condition.

There have been series of incidences resulting from the tight schedules of bankers. Bankers sometimes, approximately work round the clock  without adequate time to rest.

According to Vanguard, an Abuja based banker reportedly slum and died from being over-worked. The ill-fated event took place in one of the top banks in Nigeria as a banker occupying the post of an ATM Custodian who is charged with the duty of loading up the bank's ATM machines with money throughout the week, came to perform his regular duties.

On entering the ATM room, he locked himself up which is an operational guideline followed but he never came out again.

Seconds ran into minutes and minutes turned into hours but this ATM custodian never came out. This prompted people who knew of his entry to knock the door of the room. It was later forced open and the custodian's lifeless body was found.

As at the time the deceased staff was working, ATM custodians in the bank worked round the clock, from Monday to Sunday. On weekends, they had to resume by 6.30am in the morning and closed around 7pm. As a result, there was virtually no day to rest . But the management of the banks were either ignorant of this fact or they chose to ignore it.

A similar occurrence of death at a Lagos branch of the same bank caused the bank to review the work schedule of other ATM custodians to prevent further deaths.
