A shameless woman who was spotted urinating on a war memorial twice has landed in trouble for her gross act.
Kelly Martin urinating on a war memorial
The policemen have arraigned a jobless mother-of-five found guilty of urinating on a war memorial twice in three months, including on the eve of the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.
Dailymail reports that the shameless woman identified as Kelly Martin, 42, was caught on camera squatting semi-n*ked above poppies at the cenotaph in Grays, Essex, in broad daylight.
Basildon Magistrates' Court today heard that when spotted desecrating the site she yelled at a policeman: 'What the f*** are you looking at?'
The report states that Martin was on bail at the time after she was arrested for urinating at the decades-old structure in April.
On both occasions she was among a crowd of people around the memorial when she dropped her trousers and relieved herself, her trial heard.
Essex Police PC James Shelton, who arrested Martin after the alleged April 13 incident, told the court he was 'shocked' by what he saw taking place in front of 15-20 people, Dailymail report further stated.
He said: 'For me, the war memorial is something that we need to remember in terms of people who gave their lives for us.
'We hold them in our hearts. I was so disgusted that someone could be so deliberately offensive towards it.
'I looked around in disbelief. In particular I saw a mother that had a child in a pushchair. She was trying to shield her child's eyes from what was happening.'
When concerned paramedic Stephen Doherty rushed to help a stricken man in a bush on June 30 Martin launched a bottle at his head and abused him. It is alleged she was drunk on the day she committed the gross act.
Sentencing Chair of the magistrates Stewart Cranmer said 'drunkenness was not a defence' as he found her guilty of all offences.
He said: 'We find the case proven beyond reasonable doubt, we find her act of urinating on a war memorial obscene and disgusting committed in a public place namely Grays town centre.
'We find her act lewd and disgusting being committed in the same place, once again outraging public decency.
'We find that Miss Martin intentionally committed acts that outraged public decency by urinating in the war memorial on two occasions, one common assault and a section four public order offence.
'The offences really resonated with local communities, the offence outraged common decency.'
Martin will be sentenced on August 25.
