A fuel tanker overturned on a major road in Anambra State on Thursday, spilling petrol and creating panic among motorists and residents.
The 40-foot tanker carrying Premium Motor Spirit fell on the Onitsha-Owerri Road at Upper Iweka after the driver lost control.
Authorities believe a bad section of the road caused the steering to fail.
No one was hurt in the incident.
Emergency responders quickly arrived and sprayed water around the tanker to prevent any fire.
The road was cordoned off and traffic was diverted away from the area.
Motorists and traders nearby moved away from the scene out of fear that the spilled fuel could ignite.
The Anambra State Fire Service confirmed they deployed firefighters and equipment immediately after receiving a distress call.
They successfully contained the situation and completed salvage operations to clear the roadway safely.
The fire service said they would continue monitoring the area and working with other authorities to ensure safety and prevent further hazards.
Motorists are being advised to stay alert and drive carefully around the affected area.
