News reaching us from Delta state University, DELSU states that six female students including a final year student of the Department of Library and Information Science, Delta State University, Abraka, were last Friday caught with 'micro chips' during examination.
The final year student was exposed by an examiner named Sylvester Okiemute during her final examinations.
Sources said the student was caught while sitting for an examination on ‘Entrepreneurship and Information Services’ after the invigilator had carefully observed her suspicious moves.
It was gathered that the examiner, convinced that the student was making reference to a paper she smuggled in, asked her to hand over the paper. The girl denied and that led to an altercation between the examiner and the student.
The examiner was infuriated by her approached after being 100 percent sure she was cheating, so he dipped his hand into her pants and brought out the incriminating materials she smuggled into the examination hall.
It was reported that the student was earlier caught by another examiner and she pleaded with the examiner, who later pardoned her. She was reportedly given another booklet to start over again, but was caught again, 45 minutes later.
Confirming the incident, the university Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Victor Peretomode, said the university had declared total war on illegality and examination malpractices. According to him, defaulters will be outrightly expelled no matter their connections in the helm of authorities.
