Kano Releases Major Findings on Children Missing From School

A new survey has exposed the scale of Kano's out-of-school children problem, revealing where educational exclusion is most concentrated and raising fresh questions about what must be done next.

The Kano State Government has released results from its Out-of-School Children Survey and called for increased stakeholder coordination to diminish the population of educationally excluded children throughout the state.

The report was unveiled on Thursday at the Ministry of Education, drawing together government representatives, education sector partners, traditional and community figures, development organisations, school leadership and related stakeholders.

The survey documents the extent and geographic distribution of out-of-school children in the state alongside factors driving their exclusion from formal educational systems.

The findings are intended to inform data-driven planning, policy development and focused programmes designed to guarantee that every child in Kano receives quality and inclusive education.

The state education commissioner reaffirmed government dedication to advancing the education sector and preventing any child from remaining uneducated.

He indicated the findings would function as a vital resource for recognising areas demanding immediate intervention and constructing enduring approaches to enrol, sustain and assist educationally excluded children.

He urged parents, communities, traditional bodies, religious figures, development partners and allied stakeholders to cooperate closely with government in removing obstacles preventing educational access.

The commissioner emphasised that families must place priority on their children's schooling and stressed that lowering out-of-school numbers demands collective effort.

The Ministry of Education restated its commitment to deploying dependable data and evidence-based approaches to direct educational strategy and programmes statewide.
