Troops Stop Pipeline Vandalism in Benue, Arrest 18 Year Old Rider

Soldiers from Operation Whirl Stroke have stopped an attempt to vandalise a pipeline in Gou community, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

They arrested an 18 year old motorcycle rider, Aondoyima Agber, who was allegedly carrying a section of the pipeline on his bike.

The operation took place on October 20, 2026.

Troops were on a fighting patrol when they got information about suspected vandals in the area.

When they reached the spot, the other suspects had already fled. Agber is in custody while the authorities decide what happens next.

Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, the acting media information officer, said the troops will stay in the area to stop criminals and protect critical infrastructure.

Major General Moses Gara, the force commander and GOC of the 5 Division, praised the soldiers for acting quickly.

He warned anyone who damages public property to stop, and he asked residents to report suspicious activity to security agencies.
