Kaduna Governor Elect, El-Rufai Consoles Families Over Birnin Gwari Killings

The outspoken Mallam El-Rufai has come out to criticize the recent killing in Gworon Dutse village, an area in Kaduna state. The Governor-elect also calls for security officials to take charge of the situation.

Controversial APC member and the Governor-elect of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, on Thursday consoled the families of the 20 persons killed on Wednesday in Birnin Gwari local government area of the state.

You would remember that a gang of thieves on Wednesday morning shot dead at least 20 people and set houses on fire in Gworon Dutse village in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state.

The bandits according to sources present at the time say that the invasion happened at the early hours of Wednesday morning.

El-Rufai termed the killings barbaric and inhuman and urged for urgent action by the security forces to stem acts of banditry and terror in the area.

His spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan,â€‹ disclosed this in a statement issued in Kaduna.

Mr. Aruwan said, “The governor-elect received with sadness news of the killing of about 20 persons and the destruction of homes in a village located in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State.

“It is barbaric and inhuman. It is unfortunate that innocent Nigerians will be brutally killed in their sleep.

“The governor-elect therefore condoles the affected families and the entire community over this unfortunate act. He prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

“He also charged security agencies to redouble their efforts in ensuring maximum security in the state”.
