Convicted Murderer Who Spent 37 Years on the Run Caught Trying to Deliver Papers (Photos)

 

Police have caught one of the most wanted crooks in the US who escaped prison 37 years ago after he was convicted for shooting a man dead.

 

Oscar Juarez, who fled prison in 1978 after sawing through the bars of his cell, was nicked while delivering newspapers. Justice finally caught up with Juarez after cops tracked him down to St Paul, Minnesota.

 

The 66-year-old killer was sentenced to life in jail for shooting a man dead and was previously apprehended twice during the Eighties but was let go after giving a fake name.

 

Police chief Todd Ishee said: "This was one of our oldest cases that many believed to be impossible to solve.

 

 

Juarez initially said police had mistaken him for someone else but the killer's identity was confirmed after officers checked his fingerprints.

 

It is thought the convicted murderer - who put a dummy in his bed in a bid to fool guards during his jail break - will die behind bars.
