See What Senate President Said About Facebook Training for Senators

More information about the planned training for the senators have been revealed by the senate president on social media.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki

The Senate president, Bukola Saraki has debunked allegations that the senate paid for the Facebook training scheduled to commence soon. He said no one paid Facebook a kobo for the training as the social media group undertook it upon itself to offer help to the Nigerian Senate.

This claim was made as well meaning Nigerians took to twitter asking how much the Senate would spend for the training. Adesoji Gabriel asked on twitter: “@bukolasaraki pls how much is that going to cost the @NGRSenate?”

The senate president swiftly replied using his twitter handle @bukolasaraki, saying: “Facebook offered to train Senators & their aides ABSOLUTELY FREE on how to effectively use the platform. I approved,”

The Chief of Staff to the President of the Senate had earlier informed the senators about the training in a letter sent to the senators inviting them for the event.

“Senators and their aides receive training on use of facebook in line with the promise of the President of the Senate to ensure more representative legislature using e-parliamentary tools.

“This is a partnership between the Office of the Senate President and Facebook.

“Senators and aides who wish to participate in the programme should please email [email protected] with their full names.”
