Shocker: Cultists Caught In The Forest While Trying To Cut Off A Young Man's Neck In Imo

According to a report by The Nation, an attempt by some suspected cultists to behead a youth, Chibundu Onumara in Obile Autonomous Community in Ohaji Egbema council area of Imo State has been foiled by villagers, who rescued him in the forest.

Onumara, it was learnt, was mistaken for a member of a rival cult group, known as Dee Gbam, which was suspected to have murdered a member of the Iceland cult group in Owerri two months ago in August.

He was said to have been picked up from his house weekend, tied up and taken to a forest where the cult boys started cutting his neck from the back when some members of the community stormed the location and rescued him, and took him to an undisclosed hospital in Owerri, the state capital.

The incident, it was learnt, was meant to be an ongoing reprisal attack by the members of Iceland cult on members of Dee Gbam.

Community sources told our correspondent that since the alleged killing of the cultist in Owerri, Obile, an oil producing community had been under siege by the rival cult groups, whose members attacked each other and their family members.

The sources said the situation had led to some villagers fleeing their homes as the cultists were now going from house to house and attacking family members of their opponents and raping their mothers and sisters.

One of the community leaders, Kingsley Omuruka, who expressed sadness over cult-related activities in the community, described the incessant rape of women and their female children as sacrilegious and abominable.

He said, “How can a young boy of 20 and 21 years rape a woman of 55 years and daughter even in the presence of their husband and father at gun point? These things are sacrilegious and abominable acts”.

Omuruka, who is contesting to be the president general of the community’s town union, accused some elders in the community of sponsoring the cult activities because they use the cult boys to protect monies collected from oil companies operating in the community, which members of the community never got to see.

“This community is in abject poverty. Little children cannot go to school and people cannot go to church because of cult activities. There is no health center in the community. No road. The only thing you hear is gun shots and some people are enjoying it.

“Several times I and some well-meaning leaders have been able to get the soldiers to come in and quell the situation and send the cultists into the bush and that is what I’m coming to do when I emerge as the president of the town union”, he said.
