A massive petrol tanker carrying 45,000 liters of fuel flipped over on Ijako Hill along the Ajah Expressway in Epe earlier today, but emergency crews managed to stop it from turning into a disaster.
The accident happened around mid-morning when the Mack tanker had a mechanical problem while driving uphill and tipped over.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said they got the call at 11:32 a.m. and had their rescue team on the ground just four minutes later.
Another empty tanker was brought in to safely pump out the petrol before moving the crashed truck off the road.
LASEMA chief Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu praised the quick response from emergency workers and asked drivers to stay away from the area so crews could finish cleaning up safely.
He also reminded residents to call 112 or 767 right away whenever an emergency happens.
