Attahiru Bafarawa is being questioned for his alleged role in transferring money from the office of the National Security Adviser, between December 2014 and May 2015.
According to SaharaReporters, the former governor is beng wanted over allegations that he was used by former President Goodluck Jonathan and former National Security Adviser Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) to launder over N4.1billion in federal funds meant for the purchase of arms to fight Boko Haram.
His arrest is coming just as the former Minister of State for Finance, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, is spending his second day with the EFCC.
Bafarawa’s son was picked up yesterday, and analysts speculate that he may have revealed his father's location to the EFCC.
The former governor was subsequently arrested this morning and is now being interrogated by EFCC investigators in Abuja.
