A man has been apprehended by the Zamfara state police for sexually assaulting and killing his brother's wife.

A 25-year-old man identified as, Aminu Bala, has been arrested by the police in Zamfara state for the alleged rape and murder of his elder brother’s wife, Hauwau Iliyasu.

This was confirmed by the state police command spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu, who stated that the suspect who is a native of Maradun Local Government Area in the state, confessed to raping the woman and then killed her.

SP Mohammed Shehu said;

“On June 15, 2020, a report was received by the police that a housewife, Hauwau Iliyasu, 25, a resident of the Damba area, was raped and killed.

The police, upon the receipt of the information, rushed to the scene and met a woman lying in a pool of her own blood.

The whole body was butchered with a machete and she was evacuated to the Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, where she was confirmed dead.”

The husband of the deceased, Kabiru Bala, said the suspect once warned him that he would kill his wife.

Shehu said Bala will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

Yesterday, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State eloped after he allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl few days after she had surgery.

This was the submission of some elders of the under the aegis of the Otada Elders’ Council.

The elders in the Otada community where the incident happened in a statement, mentioned that it was regrettable the victim had to suffer the terrible experience in the hands of the alleged rapist, who disappeared shortly after the incident, The Punch reports.

They called on the police and other security agencies to fish out the suspect so that he could face the law.
