The tallest statue of Jesus Christ in Africa is about to be unveiled in Nigeria later this month, and it is in Imo state.
The statue
According to The Cable, Africa’s ‘tallest statue of Jesus Christ,’ is set to be unveiled in Abajah Local Government Area of Imo state, on January 1st, 2016 at Aloysius Catholic Church.
The statue named 'Jesus de Greatest', is said to be 28 feet tall.
Obinna Onuoha, founder of Premier Petroleum Limited, reportedly funded and offered the statue to the church.
Jesus de Greatest is set to be the fifth tallest statue in Africa, and has a total weight of 40 tons and is made of marble.
According to the report: "At 161 feet, African Renaissance Monument in Dakar, Senegal, is the tallest statue in Africa after Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt which 66 feet.
"Ramesses II in Egypt at 30 feet, is the third tallest. Nelson Mandela Union Building in South Africa has a 28 feet statue and is the fourth tallest in the continent. The world’s tallest statue of Jesus is Christ the King in Åšwiebodzin, western Poland, with a height of 172 feet."
