Abdulrasheed Bawa
Abdulrasheed Bawa, The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has revealed that he was dehydrated hence the reason he felt dizzy while giving a speech at the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday, September 16.
The chairman of the anti-graft agency caused many to panic when he became dizzy while delivering a speech at an event in the presidential villa.
Speaking on Channels TV yesterday evening, Bawa said his doctors attributed his dizziness to dehydration.
“While giving my goodwill message during the programme organised by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), there was a sort of dizziness on me and I had to excuse myself from the stage.
And of course I went straight to the hospital where the doctors confirmed to me that everything about me is okay except for the fact that I’m a bit dehydrated and need to take a lot of water.
Straight away from the hospital, I went back to the office and now I’m back at home.' 'he said.
Bawa also reacted to the decision of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stop the sale of foreign exchange (FX) to bureau de change (BDCs) operators in the country. Speaking, he said
“It is a laudable policy that we are working with the central bank with open arms, nobody stops the operations of BDC in this country,” he said.
The policy is about stopping the giving of cash to BDC, and that monies that hitherto are being given to the BDC are now going to be given to financial institutions for them to distribute to those Nigerians that are in need of them.”
