Court Remands Woman For Pouring Hot Water On Housemaid In Port Harcourt
A mother-of-four, Oluchi Nkemjika, has been remanded in a custodial centre by a magistrate court in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, for allegedly dousing her nine-year-old housemaid with hot water.
Nkemjika was arrested last week after her neighbours at Paradise Avenue alerted the police when she attempted to conceal the incident.
The mother of four has however denied the accusation.
Chief Magistrate S. Harry adjourned the matter to the 6th of December 2021 and ordered that the case file be transmitted to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
In a related development, a case of four students of Community Secondary School Nkpolu Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt, who were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy and cultism has been transferred to Juvenile court at the Rivers State Judiciary complex in Port Harcourt.
Chief Magistrate Phillip Dike-Udenna ordered the case file be transferred to juvenile court which is to be presided over by Chief Magistrate Rita Oguguo.
