In a new interview gathered from a local media, SRSport.com in Finland, former Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel 'D Bull' Amokachi has revealed that his recent coaching deal with JS Hercules was not in any way motivated by money.
The former Everton FC player who spoke few days after signing his one-year contract with the Finnish club, said the joy of coaching a foreign club prompted him to accept the offer not the money involved.
"I really do not do this movement for the money! But you must learn to huge sacrifices if you want to move forward. Think for a moment, how many Africans have been appointed a head coach in Europe? Some who have their roots in Africa I can say yes, but not the ones that are born and raised there like me.
It is important to get a decent atmosphere to kick-start a career. The television series to give Africans the opportunity to see the local coach can reach Europe. Everything is possible, and this is a great opportunity not only to me, but hopefully, I can also open up other doors," Amokachi stated.
The 43-year-old confirmed he got the Finnish coaching job through Topspotin, a sports marketing consultant and players management company.
"Mikko (one of the founders of TopSpotin) is like a half Nigerian, he was known in the soccer circles as well. He does a lot of TV work in my country. He is a friend of a friend, he assured me the possibility of this Finland job.
Out there seems to be a really cold, but on the other hand, I knew that before I came. One of my friends looked at the weather forecast the day before I left and cried that it is-30 degrees, are you quite sure that you want to go?, but I laughed," he concluded.
