Young Man Beats His 22-year-old Girlfriend to Death in Anambra (Photo)

 

A man who killed his 22-year-old girlfriend has been arrested by the Anambra police command.

 

The man identified as Ikenna Asiegbu reportedly killed Chidimma Christopher over an incident.

 

The suspect identified as Ikenna Asiegbu from Mgbakwu community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, reportedly carried out the act on Saturday February 4, at Urutolu village, Mgbakwu.

 

He allegedly assaulted the deceased despite interventions from their neighbours. It was also learnt that Chidinma gave birth to a baby six months ago.

 

After the suspect's lover collapsed and was rushed to a hospital where she was confirmed dead, angry youths in the community descended on Asiegbu and beat him to a stupor.

 

They reportedly tried to set him ablaze before some vigilantes intervened, and took him to their office before contacting the police.

 

Some of the community youths who insisted that Asiegbu should be released to them, said there's an agreement in the community that anyone who has killed should be killed as well.

 

Anambra police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident on Sunday February 5, and further disclosed that the suspect was in police custody.
