An aggrieved housewife, Oyenike Oladele, has filed a lawsuit against her husband, Olowolagba, 45, before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court over an alleged assault.
Oyenike was said to have lodged a complaint that her husband beat her at the Dugbe Police Station in Osogbo.
The accused person allegedly committed the offence on January 7, 2022 around 10:30 am at Aregbe area in Osogbo.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode told the court that the accused person slapped his wife on the face.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under Section 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Volume II, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of assault preferred against him.
The defence counsel, Najite Okobe, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms as the constitution presumed him innocent until proven contrary in court.
In his ruling, Magistrate Asimiyu Adebayo granted the accused person bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
The magistrate ruled that the surety, with verifiable address, should be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
The case was adjourned till March 16 for mention.
