A school has come under severe criticism after an avoidable negligence resulted in the death of three bubbling boys who fell into a hot sewer while in school.

The three boys' death were as a result of negligence

Tragedy visited a community recently after three eight-year-old boys fell into a sewer and tragically "boiled" to death in their school.

According to reports, the deaths could have been prevented if a hole in their school's sewer, known to reach temperatures of 80C, had been repaired quickly enough.

Local reports claim that wooden decking covering the hot sewer broke or collapsed, leaving a two and a half metre wide hole. But, the school didn't take measures which resulted in the kids falling into the faulty sewer.

The three schoolboys, named locally as Daniil Slisarenko, Alexander Sanko and Daniil Viik were from the Russian city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

It is claimed the hole was covered in nothing more than cardboard as disturbing images showed their remains in black bags in the snow.

City newspaper publisher Yevgeny Sivayav said: "It is no exaggeration to say that the city is crying.

"Such grief we have not had before.

"It is impossible to look at children – their bodies are packed in bags."

It is unclear why the boys were at school on January 29 because all educational institutions were supposed to be closed.

Sivayav said: "Why they were there at all is not clear.

"After all, January 28 was declared quarantine for influenza and all schools were closed."

A criminal probe has been launched into suspected negligence to respond to warnings from locals that the sewer was not safe.

A police source said: "The three boys disappeared on Thursday afternoon.

"They had left the school but had not come home.

"Police, volunteers and Emergencies Ministry employees had started searching for them.

"The boys' bodies were found in the open hatch of a hot sewer located near the school building."
