President Buhari to meet Presidents of Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Benin over Boko Haram

A meeting between President Buhari and Presidents of Chad, Cameroon, Benin Republic and Niger, is set to hold today, June 11, at the Presidential Lounge of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

 
President Buhari is scheduled today, June 11, 2015, to meet with the Presidents of Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Benin Republic to discuss the fight against Boko Haram.
 
The meeting is expected to hold at the Presidential Lounge of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
 
This was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ismali Aliyu, while speaking to journalists at the end of a meeting between Nigeria’s service chiefs and Buhari.
 
 
“The meeting held between the Chiefs of Defence Staff of the Lake Chad Basin and Ministers of Defence culminated in the presidents’ meeting tomorrow (today),” Ismail said.
 
“We discussed the issue of the operationalization of the Multi National Joint Task Force and the siting of its headquarters in N’Djamena and the contribution from various states. The objective was to fight the insurgency within that region for the purpose of peace, security and prosperity,” he added.
 
The meeting will be attended by Paul Biya of Cameroon, Mohammadou Issoufou of Niger, Idriss Deby of Chad and the President of Benin Republic, Boni Yayi.
 
Yayi had earlier said that the meeting would be a decisive one as regards the steps to be taken against Boko Haram.
