Residents of Naraguta community in Jos North have rescued a newborn baby boy.
He was left in an unfinished building at a mining site, and his umbilical cord was still attached.
The baby was found on Sunday along Ardo Lane.
Children playing near the building heard him crying and told their families.
A family member then called security men, who took the baby to hospital for medical care.
A man who lives nearby said he heard a baby crying the night before but thought it came from a neighbouring home.
Later, he went back to the site with a health worker and found signs that the baby had been born there.
The Ardo of Yanjin said similar cases have happened in the area before.
He has asked the authorities to find the mother and reunite her with the baby if possible.
Community elders told parents to watch their children more closely and protect vulnerable people.
Police could not be reached for comment.
