Bishop Mathew Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto has taken a swipe at the spokespersons of the presidential candidates in the just concluded presidential election saying most of them conducted themselves poorly.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV on Friday March 3, Kukah said some spokespersons of the presidential candidates are behaving as if they have received licenses to be foulmouthed and speak disrespectfully to people.
While responding to a question on whether the Peace Accord committee which he belongs to, will have spokespersons also signing the peace deal, Kukah said;
‘’Being a spokesman does not give you the right to abuse. These people are behaving as if they have received licenses to be foulmouthed, to speak disrespectfully to people. There is what you call decorum. When you are choosing your spokesperson, that is actually your messenger and the political actors must also take full responsibility, fairly and squarely, for the nature of the messengers that they choose to deliver their messages. because in many respects, the way and manner that some of these spokespersons conduct themselves puts a lot of people off.''
