In a statement, the All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain said a reconciliation process with the zone must be started.
Osita Okechukwu, the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, has said it is in the interest of national unity, equity and fairness for the Southeast to produce Nigeria’s next Senate President.
According to the All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, this is to begin a reconciliation process with the zone.
Okechukwu noted that the Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, and Senator Osita Izunaso are qualified to emerge as the next Senate President.
The VON boss described both senators as ranking lawmakers.
He said: “Me thinks it’s strategic to zone the President of the Senate to South East, based on equity, fairness and natural justice.
“Nigeria is on tripod, and since Southeast didn’t get the president or vice, it becomes strategic to start a process of reconciliation and recovery with the zone.
“Luckily, we have six senators elect, two of whom are in the ranking cadre – Orji Uzo Kalu and Osita Izunaso. Let’s choose one of them.”
