Gbadamosi, a former governorship candidate of the African Democratic Party and a former Lagos East Senatorial Candidate of the PDP via his verified Twitter handle called for the arrest of the monarch.

A former Peoples Democratic Party Governorship candidate in Lagos State, Babatunde Gbadamosi has frowned at reports that Lagos monarch, Saheed Ademola (Kusenla III) wants to perform Oro rite on Saturday, being the day for the governorship and state assembly election.

This comes after a declaration of a three-day Oro rite on non-indigenes and women from midnight to 5:30 a.m.

The Lagos monarch in a memo issued to the residents of Ikate-Elegushi announced that there would be a restriction of movement to perform the Oro rite in the community from Wednesday to Saturday.

According to the special assistant on media affairs to the Ikate Kingdom’s monarch, Temitope Oyefeso, the Oro rite will be happening and the council have advised residents and visitors to be in their houses from midnight to morning on Wednesday to Saturday.

Reacting to the development, Gbadamosi, a former governorship candidate of the African Democratic Party and a former Lagos East Senatorial Candidate of the PDP via his verified Twitter handle called for the arrest of the monarch.

Gbadamosi asserted that Saheed Elegushi through such political action desecrates the Yoruba culture and should be dethroned.

He further urged all law-abiding registered voters to come out and exercise their rights on Saturday, adding that anyone who stops tries to stop the electorates from voting will have extreme serious consequences.

He tweeted: “Saheed Elegushi needs to be arrested and dethroned for DESECRATING our culture and traditions by this political action.

“I hereby enjoin ALL Law-Abiding registered voters in ALL parts of Eti-Osa LGA, especially Ikate, to come out and exercise their right to vote on Saturday 18th March, 2023. Any attempt to stop ANYONE from voting in any part of Ikate will have extremely serious consequences for the perpetrators and their sponsors.”
