The petitions were pasted on the wall of the Rosaline Omotosho Courthouse Ikeja, the venue of the Lagos State National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal.

At least 25 election petitions have been filed against the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state.

The petitions were pasted on the wall of the Rosaline Omotosho Courthouse Ikeja, the venue of the Lagos State National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal.

Among the petitions sighted by newsmen were those by Labour Party candidates for the Federal House of Assembly in about seven constituencies in Lagos who have filed a petition to challenge the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC, and the declared winner in each constituency.

The candidates are contesting APC victories in Oshodi Isolo, Kosofe, Lagos Mainland, Surulere, Shomolu, Mushin, and Ikorodu.

In the case of the Labour Party candidate identified as Adeola Adebanjo against Gbajabiamila, the petitioners claimed that INEC breached the law and so the election was invalid due to non-compliance with the Act’s provisions.

The petitioners accused INEC of failing to comply with provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 through petitions submitted by their attorney, Wakeel Olawale-Liady.

They also claimed that INEC wrongly disqualified them from the February 25 House of Representatives election.

He asked the court to declare that there were significant irregularities and a violation of the Electoral Act and guidelines during the INEC-conducted election for the constituency seat held on February 25.

He also prayed the court to declare the election invalid and order that a fresh one should be conducted.
