Two members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been gunned down by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, on a military base in Borno state.
Zagazola Makama, a publication focused on the Lake Chad region reported that the terrorists invaded Kunnari, a village near Buratai town, at about 3am on Monday, March 27.
The terrorists attempted to invade the military base but they were met with stiff resistance from the troops. A military source told the publication;
“The ISWAP fighters came in trucks and motorcycles, shooting sporadically but a swift response from the troops put them in disarray.”
The troops eventually overpowered the ISWAP fighters, killing 8 terrorists while others fled. Two others were killed while trying to fix their motorcycle after it broke down.
The source added;
“The gallant troops chased the terrorists in their escape route and intercepted two other terrorists who were trying to fix their motorcycle after it broke down and gun them down.”
