Kanu welcomed the clarification from the Global Terrorist Index of the Institute for Economics and Peace.

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra has applauded the Global Terrorist Index of the Institute for Economics and Peace after it retracted an earlier ranking of IPOB as the 10th deadliest terrorist group in the world.

It has now ranked IPOB as a non-terrorist organisation.

Kanu welcomed the clarification from the Global Terrorist Index of the Institute for Economics and Peace.

In response to the formal protestations and the quantum public condemnations, the GTI reconsidered and published a clarification that did not state, imply or even suggest indirectly that it ranked IPOB as the 10th terrorist group in the world.

The clarification states: “It is important therefore to differentiate between the peaceful activities of the group and its alleged involvement in violent activity. We have today updated the Global Terrorism Index 2023 to reflect this necessary clarification.”

Kanu applauded GTI’s clarification of its report.

The IPOB leader disclosed this during his routine meeting with his Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, at the detention facility of the Department of State Service, DSS.

In a tweet, Ejimakor wrote: “I just exited from today’s meeting with #MNK. Expectedly, I briefed him on the positive clarification from the GTI/IEP regarding the alleged ranking of IPOB as a deadly terrorist group.

“He welcomed the clarification, but both of us concurred that more needs to be done. #FreeMNK”
