A 32-year-old suspected criminal, Gabriel Okpe, has been arrested by the Nasara state police command for allegedly stealing from residents of Karu Local Government Area of state.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Lafia on Thursday, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the suspect who had been on the watchlist of the police, was tracked down and arrested in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, after painstaking efforts by officers of the command.
The statement reads, “On 27/03/2023 at about 12:30 pm, a complaint was lodged at Karshi Division that, an apartment located at Modupe Olusola street, Papaladna, Karshi Development Area of Karu LGA was burgled and household items including a 2010 model Toyota matrix vehicle were carted away by unknown persons.
“Upon receipt of the report, a discreet and diligent investigation was launched into the case. The effort of the Police operatives paid off on 28/03/2023 when the principal suspect; Gabriel Okpe ‘M’ 32yrs was trailed and arrested at Jikwoyi FCT, Abuja.
“The following items were recovered as exhibit: Toyota matrix with registration number ABC 277 FV Abuja, Honda Accord with registration number LC 699 EKY Lagos, two plasma television sets, one Elepaq generator, a standing fan, Laptop, Microwave, Gas cylinder and burner, two Ipads, a samsung smart phone, and other items.”
Nansel said the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, had ordered that the suspect should be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
