Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation, has performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the Hadejia Airport in Jigawa State on Thursday.
Sirika said at the event that when completed, it will be used to transport agricultural products from Jigawa and other neighbouring states to different parts of the country and beyond.
“Today we are performing the groundbreaking ceremony to re-establish air transportation in this very historic city town of Hadejia,” he said.
He congratulated the Governor of Jigawa State, Mohammed Abubakar, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Adamu Fanini, for achieving this huge investment.
He also emphasised the importance of aviation infrastructure, stating that it can help boost the economy and create jobs.
The minister further urged the people of Hadejia to take advantage of the airport to export their agricultural products, including fish and fura.
“Insecurity has taken a new dimension, a new shape in the country and one way that it is greatly fought is by aviation infrastructure.
